Fadge Cravings-Cake Supplier: Booked

Sorry for a super late update! I dunno what happened to me and I can't move my ass off here...Grrrrr I hate myself for being lazy!
Well, finally our wedding cake supplier is booked. Last Saturday, April 28 after attending Bro. Leo's Diaconal Ordination and a short side trip in Batangas I went straight to Batangas City to meet Ate Mhadg of Fadge Cravings. It's really my intention to get a local cake supplier to save from out of town fee/delivery though Batangas City is still couple of towns away from Laiya, San Juan, Batangas... I guess P1000 cake delivery charge is not bad at all right? :P They are located in a subdivision that is new to me ( i studied in Batangas City during my college days but I never been there) so commuting is kind of hard to me, I lost and rode the wrong jeepney twice. I'm really not good in direction but I'm glad  though I came a bit late I was able to make it. I saw their shop was closed but good thing it's right where Ate Mhadg lives I tried pushing the door bell in front of the gate and there she is.:D Sigh of relief! hahaha.. I learned from her that they don't even got the chance to open that day because she is currently making some cake orders the she need to deliver the next day...
So how's the meeting?
At first Alan and I wanted to have a 3-layered all edible cake but after seeing my parent's wedding cake I said to myself I want ours to looks like close to that one instead. So when I saw a damask theme cupcake tower made by Fadge I told them about it and they said it's okay and we can discuss the details in our meeting. So there, I booked for a cupcake tower ( a cake on top the layer and 80 pieces of cupcakes to be place in the other 5 layers of the tower). The other reason why we chose it instead of the 3 layered edible cake is that we wanted to make sure everyone (guests) will be able eat and taste the cake/cupcakes  in the reception...We don't want to have leftovers because the next day after the wedding we will be surely busy to catch our flights going to a planned out of town Christmas celebration together with both families so I guess taking leftovers is not a good idea at all...so having cupcakes is better. And besides I hate it when I'm attending a wedding and never got the chance to taste the wedding cake..Oh well, that's only my two cents as a wedding guests but I do respect those couples who bring their cakes at home after reception. :P
Well, well, well, too much habla! LOL
Now to give you how our wedding cake/cupcake tower will looks like lemme show you our pegs..
Let's start here .....
This is how our cupcake tower will look like. I mean the size and the height.
It's the damask cupcakes I saw that made me go for a cupcake tower instead.
This is our first choice for the 3 layered all edible cake.

And since I can't let go of the beach-y details of this cake for this is really love..
Our cupcake tower will still have this details so imagine
the the damask cupcakes with this  details instead..
Don't you think it's lovely? :)
by the way this is my parent's wedding cake...
I want  ours to looks close to it because
I wanted to put wedding wishes in each cupcakes
like  what those golden ribbons have.
Though I never told Ate Madge about it yet cause
i guess ribbons is  not so good  idea...
I'm still thinking  how can I incorporate it with our theme.

Can you imagine now how our tower will gonna be? Not yet? Ok, so here's more.....The color will be aqua blue instead of white and the details will follow our color palete. To have a Mexican touch I told Ate Mhadg that I will just order a Mexican inspired topper. We'll prolly choose a clay topper so we can keep it as a remembrance! :)
OOOOpppps before I park I forgot to tell you that Ate Mhadg got the chance to lemme taste their cake so I can choose which flavor we want to have...Alan and I really wanted to have their carrot cake but unfortunately She don't have a sample of their premium cakes for me to taste that day so I just choose between their 3 basic flavors, which is chocolate, mocha and vanilla. So, what would you expect?A chocolate addict here so obviously I chose the chocolate flavor. They all taste good though I just love how my palete enjoy the chocolatey taste.. :P

Here's the cakes Ate Mhadg took from some
of her cake orders for me to taste it...Thank you! haha..

This raspberry juice really quenched my thirst! Thanks again LOL!
So there's my piece of cake! :D

PS. I booked and paid her the DP the same day.She promised me she'll send the contract soon since she never thought I will pay her that same day. :P
I missed the last trip of Supercat! waaaaah :/ no choice so I travel via RO-RO. :(
the first 4 photos i grabbed from Fadge Cravings site.

Wedding: Save the Date

And because I am kind of busy and can't write mucho
lemme just share to you our Save the Date doodle/photo.  :D

Taaaadaaaaa!!!

cute right? :P
please click for  better viewing :-)

This doodle was made by one of my favorite wedding supplier,
and she is none other than Little Miss Paintbrush.
Hep hep! Before you react on how you see the drawing
I would like to share that the whole idea of this (drawing) is from Alan my Love. LOL
The only contribution I have  in making this Save the Date is the cactus thingy
(to put some Mexican touch to match our theme)
and the calender part instead of just putting the date
(defensive but it's true..haha).

I'm torn between making it just into a normal Save the Date card,
a ref magnet or print it just like a real photo in photo paper.
What do you think is better?
Don't be shy I am open for suggestions hehe.

Alright then, I need to park now...
Until next time folks!
I hope you like it
like how Alan and I love them. :D

PS. I can't wait to write a post about Little Miss Paintbrush and the rest of our booked suppliers, oh just please bear with me..because your Pinay Mex right here is kind of lazy due to lack of rice consumption! -kiddin ^_^

Beach Fiesta : Reception

We love to have an outside event, just right in the beach front, a dinner while the sun sets, sky is the ceiling, the stars, the sands and the ocean will join our audience. Isn't it lovely? :D

In planning a wedding, the two top major suppliers that you need to book is the church (ceremony) and reception venue. It's easier to book the rest of your suppliers list if you have these two.

serene
Alan and I love the beach that's why we wanted to have our wedding fiesta by the beach and it will surely match our Mexican beach theme.Beach wedding is a nice idea but since we are both Catholic we still wanted to march in an old Catholic church's aisle so we just searched for a nice beach venue for a Mexican beach party instead. The difficult part of having a destination wedding is how you can find a great place but at lower cost. It took me days and weeks on sending and asking for resorts quotes in Laiya  and I must say it's kind of hard...Most of them are pricey and we are trying to find an affordable one. Until I've got answers from Taramindu Beach Garden Inn that got my attention.I believed it's the one we are looking for, it's not really affordable but a way lower than those rates of other nearby resorts. With a great ambiance plus we can have it exclusively on our wedding day, Taramindu Beach Garden Inn is the perfect place to celebrate.

celebrating marriage here with our loved ones is <3

I did an ocular in Taramindu  January 21th of this year with BFF Charm. Same day when we visited San Juan Nepomuceno Church. We met Argie Mendoza (resort's AE) there and she's really nice and easy to talk to. They actually have an event that same day ( a golden wedding) so we personally saw how a dinner set up by the beach there will looks like and that setting excites me more. Live band, buffet by the beach, fireworks, bamboo torches in a white sand beach is just great!
We officially booked the resort January 25, 2012 via bank transaction payment! And yes our beach fiesta will be there! Yey!

Note: Taramindu Beach Garden Inn's photos borrowed  here. Thank you :D

Our official monogram

Without further ado, the winner is!!!........

monogram #3

It's kind of difficult for us to choose which monogram to be use  but because of the help of you guys we came up with this decision.

By the way here's the tally:

Monogram #1: 4 votes
Monogram #2: 12 votes
Monogram #3:36 votes

Not only because of the landslide votes that's why we chose this monogram but because personally this one attracts us the most though at first I also have the eye for monogram #2. We might be using the monogram in smaller size so I guess this one is the best to be use (we can still see the details even in smaller size).

And finally this is our official monogram.

Thank you so much Sis Joy for your lovely creation! :D

Sis Joy of monogram hub sent me the 3 studies of our monogram order and I just dunno which study will be our official monogram because I love them all. Hmmmmm.... my hubby Alan is on DND mode now, he is kind of busy with the ship's maneuvering and I can't disturb him to check his email and let me know which is his bet.....for the moment can you help me?

Yay! Wish us luck cause I know it will be hard for us to choose which is which?!
Using our Mexican Beach theme mood board sis Joy came up to these 3 studies...

Mood Board : Mexican Beach Theme

Posted by Picasa

Last week I shoot monogram hub an email for our monogram order. I'm quite excited how Sis Joy will mix and match the ideas in our mind for our Mexican Beach Theme. She is actually apologetic (side kwento) informing me that she might deliver it late because she will be visiting her hubby over the weekend in La Union to catch up with a couple of months not seeing each other. I am really excited to see our monogram made by her but of course I understand her specially now that me and my Alan is currently in a LDR mode too, I assured her that there is no problem, I am not in a hurry. I know being away from your better half is a big challenge for a relationship.
Okay, going  back to our monogram order, after sending her the deposit receipt of our payment She asked me to send her our mood board that she can use as inspiration in making our monogram as soon as she get back. Shameful I am but I just sent her only few pictures of our inspirations. So I decided to make our moodboard finally...For so many ideas we have I can't put them all together in the board so for the moment this collage will do (hopefully).
We basically have a combination of beach and Mexican ideas like cactuses, margaritas, nachos, papel picado, flip flops, shells, maracas, corona beers, sombreros, and chilies. I am  really looking forward to see the 3 monogram studies soon. For sure it will be difficult for me and Alan to choose.
By the way I just made it on time since Sis Joy will be back on Thursday and she even told me that in case I have some "pahabol" she will gratefully accept it, so in a new email I sent to her I have this moodboard attached and that's my pahabol! :p

DIY: customized wedding ring holder

I wanted to have some personal touch on our big day so I decided to do some DIY projects and since I don’t want to have a typical pillow to hold our wedding rings (I wanted something unique which will match our Mexican beach theme) so I decided to include this. I found a lot of materials that I can recycle and can be use here (come on we are earth/budget friendly) ;). I am so happy and excited to share it with you! :D

Materials I’ve used:

Old sewing box – I just found this clutter when I was cleaning our house, my lil bro used this before as his “teks” cards container :D
Styrofoam – I’ve got from my sister’s 18th birthday banner
2 bronze swan- an old house display
Silver/gray paint – I’ve bought for P50.00 in the nearest hardware
1 pack of sea shells- I’ve bought from Pandayan Bookstore P53.00
1 pack small pebbles- I’ve bought in Pandayan too P19.00
Old fabrics
Sand paper
Glue gun/3 glue stick- P3.00/stick
Clear glue- P25.00
Paint brush (small) P6.00
Cutter- P12.00
Kraft paper, ruler, scissors, board, Oslo paper –I gathered only from the house
Colored sand- left over from my DIY matches

Total cost: P174.00/ $3.87

How I made it:

  •           I asked our neighbor to cut the wooden sewing box for me. I cleaned it up and paint the outer part with a silver/gray paint and then make it dry, set aside.
i painted it with gray-ish /silver because we are having yellow gold rings.I don't want to have it the same color, it will be easier to see the rings with this color i guess :D
  •            Painted the 2 bronze swans with the grayish/silver paint too and let it dry.

  •        I cut the styrofoam into 3 different parts with the same width of the box to serve as filler. I covered it with old jeans (fabric) and set it aside.

  •          After drying the paint of the box I inserted my styro fillers inside the box.
there are different kinds of sea shells there in the bookstore, I just find it cuter :P
  •            Using glue gun I glued the sea shells all over the outer part of the box.
i love the texture :)
  •           I put some clear glue in the open spaces in between the shells and pour orange colored sand to have a more beach-y texture, set it aside while waiting to dry.
  •          While waiting I cut the scrap of woods to be use as sign and covered it with kraft paper.

I love this! I put the "I do" thing to support the swans from falling. (in case).
I just put "I DO" for a kulit factor hehe
  •            I asked my neighbor to do the lettering for the signs because I doubt I have talent to do that. LOL!
  •           When the signs are already painted I inserted them in between the styrofoams, and I glued it in a fix position.
  •          I put an ample amount of glue on top of the styro foams and glued   the small pebbles all over, let it dry.
I put the small pebbles under the colored sand so in case the sand don't stick that much, it will retain it's beach-y feel.
  •        Put more clear glue on top of the pebbles and sprinkled blue colored sand.
for the meantime I used my wedding and e-ring here :D
  •           Finally I put the two swans facing each other and let their neck hold the rings.
i love the shadows
and  the heart shaped formation of the swan's beaks <3
There you go! My very own version of wedding ring(s) holder :D I  just love the feeling when you accomplished something that is beautiful to your eyes!

DIY: customized wedding matches

To make our wedding more detailed I wanted to have a customize matches for lighting up our candles, so to save (the normal prize of it is ranging from P 80-100 in bridal shops) I decided to do it myself. I gathered some recyclable materials in the house that I can used to make my DIY projects. I am just glad I found something that I can use here to fit  our Mexican beach theme. Here’s how I made them effortless, as simple as 1, 2, 3. :D

Materials I’ve used:

2 matches – I asked my lil bro to buy it in the neighborhood store.   P2.50 each
Colored sand – I asked my lil sister to buy it (orange and blue) in Pandayan bookstore in Rob.
                                Orange =P11/pack           Blue=P10/pack
Orange elastic bands- I took it from my niece hair accessories (box).
Glue, glue gun, glue stick – We already have it in the house. (good thing)
Dolphin shaped beads- I’ve got it from my old broken necklace.

TOTAL cost : P26.00/US$0.55

How to:

1.       I tied 6-8 sticks of matches using elastic band and set it aside.

2.       I took out  the outer part of the match boxes, put some glue all over the top and pour ample amount of blue sand. I set it aside for 20 minutes to dry.

3.        I did the same thing to the other side of the matches after drying the first side.  I put a little bit of glue in the lower part of the matchbox and then poured the orange colored sand.

5.       The 2 dolphin beads I attached in the middle of the box using glue gun. I positioned them like they were kissing.

6.       And finally I pasted our cut printed names in both sides of the match boxes opening.(Baby, blame Mommy for your mispelled name :P she's the one who printed it. :D

And there you go! Just a piece of cake! Our matches are now ready to light us up. Let's cheers to that! :D

UP NEXT:

My DIY ring holder and wedding cord. Will keep you posted folks.
